3 Best Mexican Restaurants in Liberty

If you like nothing better than an enchilada or a burrito washed down with a margarita, there are many top-quality Mexican eateries in Liberty, Missouri, where you can get your fix. Here are a few examples of must-try places in the city.

Rancho Grande Cantina

Rancho Grande Cantina has a reputation among locals for serving consistently delicious Mexican food and providing friendly service. In addition, the venue, which features the typical multicolored walls and busy decor of a Mexican restaurant, has a warm and friendly vibe. The eatery offers daily specials, like buy one and get one free beef/chicken tacos on Thursdays. And if you like strong margaritas, be sure to drop by during happy hour.

The extensive menu offers all your Mexican favorites, including starters, salads, fajitas, burritos, tamales, and tacos. For starters, try the Rancho Grande Dip, which is a bowl of premium pepper jack cheese, mushrooms, and other secret ingredients served with warm tortilla chips. For mains, there are many delicious options, such as the Fish Taco Dinner with grilled tilapia, cabbage, pico de gallo, rice, and black beans.

Mi Hacienda

Mi Hacienda is another very popular Mexican eatery in Liberty. As opposed to your typical Mexican spot, this eatery boasts a more subdued and elegant venue. Instead of multiple bright colors, the walls are painted in a dirty pink, and the small murals that decorate each arched booth depict peaceful pastoral scenes. This all makes for a pleasant setting where you can truly sit back and relax with friends. Their prices are very affordable, and daily lunch specials are also offered from Monday through Saturday.

Like most other Mexican eateries, Mi Hacienda offers a comprehensive menu that includes all the usual suspects, including tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, and combination platters. If it’s hot outside, start your meal with a fresh avocado and shrimp salad with mixed greens, colorful tortilla chips, black beans, corn, and your choice of dressing. For mains, try one of their delicious seafood dishes, such as the shrimp chimichanga, which is a deep-fried flour tortilla filled with shrimp and cheese and served with guacamole salad, rice, and beans.

La Costa Mexicana

As La Costa Mexicana is located in an old building dating back to 1886 in the historic downtown area of Liberty, they have kept many of the original raw-brick surfaces. However, the venue also boasts the odd brightly colored wall, cheery decor, and a quaint bar counter where you can enjoy the best margaritas in town. They also offer daily specials, like Taco Tuesday, where you get three different tacos for $3.50, and Monday through Thursday, you get a 50% discount on drinks during happy hour.

As you’d expect, La Costa Mexicana also boasts a large menu. A nice dish to start off with is the Mini Chimis, which is six ground beef mini chimis, served with guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeno cream cheese, and a spinach white dip. For mains, spoil yourself with a Sabrosa Platter with a pork tamale, asada taco, and two mini chicken flautas served with black beans and rice.

Offering great food, strong margaritas, pleasant venues, and friendly service, these Mexican eateries in Liberty are well worth a visit.
