Heavy-Duty Mastery: The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD

Performance

The Silverado 2500 comes with a standard 6.6L V8 gas engine that provides 401 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 464 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. The available 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine boasts 470 horsepower at 2800 rpm and 975 lb.-ft. of torque at 1600 rpm. Both engines are paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.

Exterior

The Chevy Silverado 2500 has the perfect truck bed for any kind of work project, with cab-mounted cargo area lamps and twelve cargo tie-downs rated at 500 pounds per corner. The bed is a roll-formed high-strength steel Durabed that’s built to take on heavy loads without any damage.

Safety

There are many assistive safety features built into the Silverado 2500, including Lane Departure Warning. Lane Departure Warning issues an audio and visual alert when it detects you unintentionally veering out of your designated lane.

Another feature is Following Distance Indicator, which displays the time between your truck and the vehicle in front of you in seconds. This can help reduce the risk of rear-end collisions. Other safety features include Front Pedestrian Braking, Automatic Emergency Braking, and StabiliTrak electronic stability control.
