My recent experience was fine this time, my previous visit in October not so much. I dropped my vehicle off early morning for oil change, tire rotation, and diagnosis of an on going error with Stabilitrack. By the end of the day I was told the oil change and tire rotation was complete but they still needed to do the diagnosis and that would be done first thing the next morning. The next day I never heard from anyone and I couldn't get a hold of anyone until around 1:00 in the afternoon after leaving messages and texting the service line with no response someone finally answered the phone. When I asked about my van, that I needed to pick it up that afternoon they informed me that none of the services had been completed, even though I was told the day before the oil change and rotation was complete. They knocked out those jobs that afternoon and I was given a diagnosis of a bad connector on the EBCM board causing the stabilitrack faults and was going to cost $686. Was also informed this would not be covered under warranty even though the problem has been happening since a few months after I got the van new. So I put off doing the work but a couple weeks ago I had related fault codes pop up about can bus faults and my van wouldn't run over 44 MPH, it was a cold night and the next day it was all OK again so I suspected the same connector issue so I had the parts ordered and work done this week. As I read the repair notes I'm seeing that 4 wires were replaced that were causing "terminal tension". To me that sounds like a manufacturing problem from the factory and I think it should definitely be covered under warranty. Instead, I was charged almost $700 for that repair. Arrived, checked in, and checked out all in under 60 minutes. No unexpected issues this time around. My vehicle picked up screw in the front right tire in your facility 1st time in there for an oil change and i had to replace the tire. Of course, Heartland denied responsibility but when the screw is clearly brand new and shiny with no road wear on it at all, then I drive 2 miles away after leaving to look at it again and it's all dirty and showing road wear, that tells me it was in your garage. Thankful this trip was better.

Unfortunately I'm very disappointed in yesterday's exchange. I dropped my car off for my 1pm appointment. It sat in the drop off garage for over an hour before being taken into the service garage. About 20 minutes after that I was approached whether I just wanted to leave it there over the weekend. I did not because you no longer provide courtesy cars, so I waited an additional hour and a half to have my vehicle looked at. after inspection I was quoted over $6000 in new repairs for oil and coolant leaks. I just had my car in for servicing in December for the same issues. They changed my water pump and Thermostat. Now three months later I have more issues and they are all supposedly not connected to the first Issues. I've been taking my car religiously to Heartland since I bought it for servicing and my expectations are that you're actually providing the 28 point inspections when doing my oil changes and should find these issues when their minor before becoming larger issues however I don't believe that is actually what's been happening. The same issues appeared when my brakes supposedly needed to be changed and new rotors although I had just been in for an oil change and they were supposedly good. on top of that and then I was hit with $150 charge for looking at my car. I've had another mechanic look at the vehicle and they find it hard to believe that these issues aren't connected to the first issues, possibly the work not being done correctly in the first place, which then compounded the Issues to where I'm at now. On top of it all, I don't understand why I was quoted for two separate repairs when both repairs would be done at the same time. That would cut down on cost.

I visited Heartland Chevrolet to get my oil changed and I asked the Service Advisor to take a look at my left headlight. I had replaced the bulb with a new one, yet is was not working. When my vehicle was done, I was given a bill for $100 (the oil change was on a plan) and told that the bulb simply was not plugged all the way in. I was charged $100 for a Technician to reach up through my left-front fender and push the wiring harness all the way onto the bulb. $100! I understand the “book rate,” but unless the bulb was changed according to GM instructions (the front bumper/facia was not even closed to being removed), a charge of $100 is excessive. If more than 15 minutes was spent completing the task (which was not approved!), the Technician took a break in the middle of it.

I have been very pleased with Heartland's service department. They are so good to get me in and out in a timely manner. Yesterday I was scheduled at 7:30 for an oil change and tire rotation. Eric said that it was time for the maintenance on the fuel injection system which is no longer covered under the power train warranty. I asked how much longer it would take as the plan was to go to work after the service was finished. He said about 30 minutes. I left there at 10:20. I was told that there was a reason it was taking so long and I know that Eric had no control over it. Had I known it could take as long as it did, I would have rescheduled or made other arrangements. I would suggest that the customer be told the longest amount of time it could take rather than the shortest amount of time. It was very frustrating.

Then literally the next night the other headlight didn’t work. When I called they said to bring it back and spend another $800. My first encounter with the dealership was bringing my car in for service. I knew I needed tires, and I also asked if they could take a look at my rear brakes. The recommendation was to resurface the rotors, and since it was also time for an oil change, I added that too. Altogether, I spent about $1,600 to prepare my car for the winter. About a week later, I noticed my rear brakes grinding whenever I came to a stop. I scheduled a follow-up appointment, and Jeff, my service advisor, personally drove my car and discussed it with a mechanic. They determined that the resurfaced rotors were too far gone and needed to be replaced. I understood the issue and agreed. Jeff quoted me a fair price and scheduled the work for a Saturday morning at 8:00 AM. I even asked him if he was sure about scheduling a brake job on a Saturday, and he assured me it was ok. On Saturday, I checked in with Eric, who seemed reluctant to proceed with the job, giving me multiple excuses, from being short-staffed to having a full schedule. I told him I was fine rescheduling, and we set a new appointment for the following Friday at 1:00 PM. At that appointment, since Jeff was out on paternity leave, I worked with Eric again. After about 2.5 hours, the work was completed. However, when it came time to pay, I was surprised to see a charge of $370.60—far higher than what Jeff and I had discussed. When I pointed this out and explained that Jeff had quoted me $82.17 per rotor (given that the original resurfacing should never have been done in the first place), Eric went back, checked the notes, and corrected the bill to the proper amount. In the end, the job got done, but the experience left me disappointed. At a dealership, I expect professionalism, consistency, and commitment. Instead, I felt like I was dealing with the kind of back-and-forth I’d expect from a less reputable shop—not a place that’s supposed to represent experience and reliability.

I took my car to Heartland to be diagnosed with an engine overheating problem. The Heartland diagnosis was either a blown head gasket ($5k to fix) or a cracked head gasket ($12k to fix). I declined repairs and took it to another repair shop for a second opinion. The final diagnosis was a faulty thermostat, which was repaired for less than $700, and the car is working fine. I paid $150 for a bogus diagnosis. I’m glad I got a second opinion and would appreciate a refund of the Heartland Chevrolet diagnosis.

I went on a test drive with Brent and he showed me some great features to the vehicle. I understand that service is supposed to upsell you whenever you bring your vehicle in, however it would be nice (considering I paid outright for a $30k vehicle) to be able to get good service without the upsell AND have the information on the service invoice entered correctly. The mileage the tech inputted was 36600 and at the time my vehicle had 9850 or thereabouts. Literally this morning it rolled to 10004. This makes me question if other things were done incorrectly. Your sales dept. was wonderful when I purchased the vehicle. Your service dept. has not impressed me to date. The very first time I brought my vehicle in for an oil change it left with a screw in the tire. A brand new screw! I stopped less than 8 miles away after accepting the vehicle (looking for a tire) and it was already dirty and looked road worn which is why I know the screw came from within your service dept. I had to purchase a new tire, from you (to match the other tread, etc) and bring it back AGAIN to be installed. I'm hoping that this is not the norm. Oil change was fine. Had been in for a previous issue with my turning signal not working. Was told a part had been ordered at the time. 4 months later I hadn’t received a call or when I did call got put on hold till it eventually went to voicemail. Left multiple voicemails and never heard back. I was informed at the end of this appointment that the part had been in for some time. No apology and was told it wasn’t a priority that day so I would have to return another day. Not my first negative interaction with this dealership or their service department. I would not recommend them to anyone nor will I be returning.

I had the same service completed in October as I did in March, except for one thing. In October the cabin air filter was replaced. The March service cost $78.82 & the October service cost $253.70. My wife took her Equinox in to get the oil changed at 11 A.M. at 12:30 they told her there was a problem, the guy changing the oil pull a wire out do they had to fix it. A little after 3 they told my wife it was fixed and good to go. She left and when she was on Rt 35 saw that he check engine light was on. So she ended up taking it back and she found they actually pulled the wire apart and had to splice it and that's why the engine light was on. Fast forward I called the next day and got lied to about what the told my wife, they said they explained everything to her before she left which they didn't they told her everything was good to go and now I can't get the service manager to call me back.
