For those who like diesel engines, the Duramax 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine produces 181 horsepower, allowing you to tow up to 7,700 pounds with the proper equipment.

Exterior Choices 

The 2021 Chevy Colorado is available in two different cab styles, extended and crew cab. Both have 41.4 inches of headroom in the front seat and 57.5 inches of shoulder room. Five passengers can fit comfortably inside. 

Once you choose your cab style, select from two different box options. If you choose the long box, you’ll have 49.9 inches of cargo volume. The short box gives you 41.3 inches of room. 

ZR2 Trim

Gino’s Italian Cuisine 

Are you looking for a taste of Northern Italy without leaving the Liberty area? Visit Gino’s Italian Cuisine at 123 E. Washington St. in Kearney, 15 minutes north of Liberty. The family-owned restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Gino’s has daily specials starting at 4 p.m. If you are in the mood for pizza, try a classic or supreme Sicilian-style pizza. Gino’s also offers a 10-inch gluten-free crust.  

If you enjoy steaks, sample a petite filet or steak and shrimp. Each meal comes with either garlic mashed potatoes or pasta and bread. The pasta menu includes favorites such as jumbo ravioli. You can also enjoy the sampler that features four Italian favorites, such as sausage and meatballs and lasagna.  

Trezo Mare 

Trezo Mare, at 4105 N. Mulberry Drive in Kansas City, offers another option for Italian favorites. Visit for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Happy hour is from 3 to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with brunch available on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.   

The brunch menu includes appetizers such as traditional bruschetta. Meals include cinnamon rolls, steak and eggs, and the Florentine benedict. The lunch menu has several salads, such as the tomato basil and baby spinach, plus blackened salmon tacos. You can also enjoy pasta dishes such as the lobster mac and cheese.  

Dinner favorites include the shrimp risotto and wood-fired scallops. If you’re looking for pasta dishes, try the smoked tomato fettuccine. Spicy food fans may want the Fusilli Shrimp Diablo. Make sure to save room for desserts such as the Trezo creme brulee or tiramisu.

Chevrolet fans should be delighted about the 2021 and 2022 model years, as the car manufacturer has hinted at exciting things to come. It plans to add new vehicles to its lineup and improve upon existing ones. Here are four upcoming Chevy models to watch for. 

2021 Colorado ZR2 

Chevrolet is revamping its award-winning midsize Colorado pickup truck from bumper to bumper. It plans to make each trim more distinctive and bold than the next, including adding a new exterior color called Sand Dune Metallic to Z71 and ZR2 trims. Chevy will also update its bowtie emblems and branded tailgates in various ways across trims levels. 

The WT, LT, and Z71 trims will get redesigned center bars, skid plates, and lower fascias. The ZR2, the most off-road-capable of the Colorados, will gain cool new front fascia lettering, a more aggressive front end, and red tow hooks as standard. 

2021 Corvette Stingray 

Chevy makes major changes to its Corvette Stingray sports car for 2021. First and foremost, it moves its beast of an engine behind the driver, which results in a different cooling and aerodynamic design and a front seat that’s 16.5 inches closer to the front of the vehicle. The Stingray also gets a new hood design and graphics available in Carbon Flash/Edge Yellow, Carbon Flash/Midnight Silver, and Carbon Flash/Edge Red color combos. 

The interior gets upgraded features such as a squared-off steering wheel, an 8-inch touch screen that tilts toward the driver, a programmable digital display, and two new interior colors. All trims will come with modern wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility. The exterior gains optional dual racing stripes, plus two new color options: Silver Flare Metallic and Red Mist Tint Coat Metallic. 

2022 Equinox 

For 2022, Chevrolet’s Equinox compact SUV gains a sportier exterior, additional safety features, and a new trim. Chevy has added a more aggressive grille, LED headlamps, and updated front and rear fascias. The new RS trim will sport a black gloss grille, 19-inch Dark Android wheels, black detailing inside and out, and red stitching. The top Premium trim will gain upgrades such as 19-inch machine faced wheels, a logo projection liftgate, and French interior stitching. Chevrolet also plans to make a massive amount of safety and drive assistance features standard. 

2022 Traverse 

Like the Equinox, the midsize Chevy Traverse SUV gets new LED lighting, an updated grille, and redesigned fascias, as well as new interior seating options and more standard safety features across all trims. Drivers will get to choose from four new wheel designs and will gain interior convenience features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and an 8-inch diagonal driver information center. 

Must-have standard safety features will now include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, forward-collision alert, automatic high beams, and following distance indicator.

The Artisan Market 

The Artisan Market on Main Street has been showcasing local artists since 2017. Today, its gallery features more than 25 artists and the market also hosts art classes, workshops, and parties. Liberty’s Sculpture Program 

Since 2017, the city’s rotating sculpture program has installed unique works in various spots downtown. Today, the program sponsors nine sculptures including resident Robert Evans’ Bottle Tree, an 800-pound African-inspired steel piece located at the Garrison School Cultural Center. You can find the bronze sculpture of beloved local custodian Lawrence “China” Slaughter on the corner of Mill and Gallatin streets. Nathan Pierce’s colorful epoxy-coated steel Social Tones sculpture and Ben Pierce’s stainless steel Reach are also on display. 

Stocksdale Gallery of Art at William Jewell College 

The Ruth E. Stocksdale Gallery of Art, located in what was once William Jewell College’s Brown Gymnasium, features eight regional art exhibits per year. Each one lasts three weeks and features a different local artist. The gallery boasts 1,200 square feet of wall space and 900 square feet of floor space, natural sunlight, and track lighting. The Stocksdale Gallery is open from September through May, and admission is free. 

Atrium Gallery at Liberty City Hall 

Liberty City Hall’s two-story Atrium Gallery has been hosting a variety of artwork, including displays by local artists, since 2008. As a result, the hundreds of people who pass through City Hall daily get to admire art as they go about their business. Displays are rotating and last two months at a time.  

Currently on exhibit during June and July is the work of local portrait artist Jennifer Hutton. Hutton designed Hallmark cards for 15 years before returning to her painting roots and creating a variety of portrait pieces. The Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration major is now pursuing her nursing degree at William Jewell College. 

Liberty City Hall’s Atrium Gallery is one of the three city public art galleries, the other two being the Liberty Community Center and the Mid-Continent Public Library Liberty Branch. They accept wall art from artists with a focus on photography, drawing, textiles, illustrations, multimedia, and more. 

Pay tribute to local Liberty artists by visiting these galleries and sites around town. You never know who will breakthrough as the next great artist, and you could have the chance to own a piece of Liberty culture yourself.
